Job Description

Overview

USAA is seeking a Senior Auto Adjuster to manage complex auto insurance claims for military members and their families. This role involves navigating the end-to-end claims process while ensuring compliance with state laws and delivering exceptional service through effective communication and problem-solving.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate to determine coverage, liability, and physical damage for complex auto claims.
  • Negotiate liability for comparative negligence.
  • Identify coverage concerns and create Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals when necessary.
  • Gather information from various parties to determine liability.
  • Analyze information to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and establish settlement value.
  • Evaluate and negotiate settlements within authority limits.
  • Document damage evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and settlement decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to facilitate claims resolution.
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations as needed.
  • Work various types of claims, including more complex ones, and take on additional duties as required.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 2 years of customer service experience
  • 1 year of experience handling low to moderately complex auto non-injury liability claims
  • Insurance adjuster license acquisition and maintenance within 90 days
  • Experience determining auto liability coverage
  • Proficient knowledge of auto claims contracts and state laws
  • Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven analytical, prioritizing, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Active Adjuster's License (preferred)
  • 1-2 years experience with multi-vehicle claims liability (preferred)
  • Guidewire Claims Center experience (preferred)
  • Dispute resolution and arbitration knowledge (preferred)
  • US military experience related to service or military spouse/domestic partner (preferred)
