Overview

As a Senior Auto Adjuster at USAA, you will be responsible for adjusting complex auto insurance claims, ensuring compliance with state laws while providing exceptional service to members. This role requires a deep understanding of auto liability coverage and involves investigating, negotiating, and settling claims effectively within established guidelines.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate coverage, liability, and physical damage for complex auto claims.
  • Negotiate liability for comparative negligence.
  • Review prior loss history and create SIU referrals as needed.
  • Gather information from multiple sources to determine liability.
  • Analyze information for compliance and establish settlement value.
  • Evaluate and negotiate settlements within authority limits.
  • Document investigative processes and settlement decisions clearly.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners for claims resolution.
  • Support claims workload surges and catastrophe response operations.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management policies.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of customer service experience
  • 1 year of experience handling low to moderately complex auto non-injury liability claims
  • Ability to acquire and maintain insurance adjuster license
  • Proficient knowledge of auto claims contracts, state laws, and regulations
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Organizational skills to effectively prioritize workload
