Job Description

Overview

As a Senior Auto Adjuster at USAA, you will manage highly complex auto insurance claims, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations while providing exceptional service to members. This role requires a blend of investigative skills, negotiation prowess, and effective communication to deliver best-in-class service during the end-to-end claims process.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate coverage, liability, and physical damage for complex auto claims
  • Negotiate liability for comparative negligence
  • Identify coverage concerns and create SIU referrals when necessary
  • Interact with multiple parties to gather information for liability determination
  • Analyze gathered information for regulatory compliance and settlement value
  • Evaluate and negotiate settlements within established authority limits
  • Resolve claims through proactive problem solving and decision-making
  • Document thought processes involved in claims management
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners for claims resolution
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations as needed

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 2 years of customer service experience
  • 1 year of experience handling low to moderately complex auto non-injury claims
  • Insurance adjuster license acquisition and maintenance
  • Proficient knowledge of auto claims contracts and case law
  • Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven analytical, prioritizing, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Active Adjuster's License (preferred)
  • Experience with Guidewire Claims Center (preferred)
  • Knowledge of arbitration and subrogation processes (preferred)
