Overview

PacifiCorp is looking for a Senior Area Transmission Planner to join their team in Portland, Oregon. This role entails applying advanced engineering expertise to ensure compliance with NERC and WECC reliability standards and involves the development and execution of complex studies and designs for transmission and generation facilities throughout their lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and evaluate grid transmission systems to support company objectives
  • Develop engineering studies and documentation for the main grid
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and planners
  • Recommend engineering solutions to meet business needs
  • Oversee project timelines and budgets while managing external engineering services
  • Participate in developing new WECC/NERC standards
  • Coordinate planning studies with neighboring utilities
  • Prepare annual NERC compliance screening studies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Five or more years of experience in transmission modeling and engineering
  • Project management and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, including NERC and WECC standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with power flow analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite
