Overview

The Senior Admissions Counselor at SUNY Maritime College is responsible for managing recruitment strategies and representing the college in recruitment activities. This role involves developing relationships with prospective students, high school counselors, and community colleges, while assisting with admissions evaluations and outreach programs.

Key responsibilities

  • Represent the College in recruitment activities to prospective students and their families
  • Manage and execute recruitment strategies within assigned territories
  • Develop relationships with educational institutions and community organizations to support recruitment
  • Conduct information sessions and presentations for prospective students
  • Counsel students on admissions requirements, academic programs, and financial aid opportunities
  • Review and render admissions decisions for applicants
  • Analyze territory performance and application trends to adjust recruitment strategies
  • Collaborate with campus partners for coordinated recruitment efforts
  • Assist in planning and executing on-campus admissions events
  • Provide support and mentorship to junior admissions staff
  • Maintain accurate records within CRM and student information systems
  • Attend recruitment events regularly, including evenings and weekends

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in college admissions recruitment or related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Analytical and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively
  • Experience with admissions technology platforms like Slate CRM
  • Knowledge of Banner Student Information System
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
