Job Description

Overview

The Senior Accountant at Sunshine Silver Mine plays a critical role in supporting the Controller with day-to-day accounting operations and compliance for a public company. This hands-on position requires attention to detail and a process-driven mindset, focusing on the continuous improvement of reporting and controls.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform and review daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Play an active role in the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate results
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity through ownership of assigned accounts and schedules
  • Support external reporting, including audit support and documentation
  • Prepare internal management reporting and analyses in collaboration with the Controller
  • Assist with SOX controls execution, documentation, and remediation efforts
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
  • Serve as a technical resource within the accounting team
  • Support ad hoc accounting projects and initiatives as assigned

Required skills

  • CPA license or actively pursuing CPA certification
  • Experience in public company audit or at least one year of hands-on accounting experience within a public company
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial close processes
  • Leadership and mentoring skills
  • Process improvement mindset
  • Attention to detail and ability to communicate accounting results
  • Experience supporting a Controller or Assistant Controller
  • Familiarity with SOX compliant environments and audit readiness
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and account reconciliation tools
