Job Description

Overview

Micron Technology is seeking a Semiconductor Facilities Engineer to conduct engineering evaluations and select Ultrapure Water (UPW) equipment for innovative system architectures. This role will involve performing detailed calculations, reviewing technical drawings, and optimizing system configurations to ensure compliance with industry standards and improve overall system performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate various Ultrapure Water (UPW) equipment options based on performance metrics and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations for UPW systems including fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.
  • Review and analyze technical drawings and schematics for UPW system designs.
  • Determine optimal material selections for UPW systems to minimize contamination risks.
  • Utilize computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software for flow analysis and system optimization recommendations.
  • Conduct field engineering surveys and assess new UPW system installations.
  • Review and approve vendor submittals for UPW equipment and piping specifications.
  • Respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) regarding UPW system construction.
  • Develop technical documentation for UPW Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from system vendors.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 1 year of experience in a related occupation
  • Calculating flow rates, pressure drops, and system balancing
  • CAD & 3D Modeling
  • AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Revit
  • P&IDs and isometric drawings
  • Mass balance, flow rate, and chemical dosing calculations
  • Knowledge of water purification technologies (RO, DI, UV, filtration, degasification)
  • Understanding of UPW system components, including pumps, valves, filters, and control systems
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA, and instrumentation
  • Familiarity with contamination control and cleanroom protocols
