Overview

Talent Software Services is seeking a Security Operations Engineer for a one-year contract position in Round Rock, TX, with potential for long-term extension. The role focuses on addressing complex cybersecurity challenges, specializing in various areas such as network, cloud, and application security while optimizing tools and processes to enhance enterprise security.

Key responsibilities

  • Prioritize work and provide guidance to junior team members
  • Develop solutions for medium to high complexity cybersecurity problems
  • Select and advocate effective security solutions
  • Maintain and optimize tools, processes, and documentation
  • Participate in reviews of security tools and technologies
  • Operate and improve enterprise observability and security telemetry platforms
  • Build reliable data pipelines using Cribl, Elastic, and Corelight
  • Support and enhance Corelight NDR deployments
  • Lead troubleshooting for complex logging and pipeline issues
  • Contribute to operational best practices and standards
  • Provide operational support during incidents and serve as a technical escalation point
  • Mentor mid-level engineers and review configurations for adherence to standards

Required skills

  • 5-7 years of experience with enterprise logging, monitoring, or security telemetry platforms
  • Experience with Cribl including pipeline design and operational support
  • Experience administering and engineering Elastic environments
  • Knowledge of network telemetry or NDR technologies like Corelight
  • Advanced Linux and Windows system administration skills
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages
  • Experience in large-scale, cloud, hybrid, or distributed environments
  • Strong understanding of observability and security telemetry concepts
