Overview

The Security Officer/Driver plays a vital role in supporting the Job Corps program, which aims to assist disadvantaged youth aged 16-24. This position involves ensuring safety and security while transporting students to various locations and patrolling assigned areas. The role emphasizes the importance of core values such as safety, accountability, and integrity.

Key responsibilities

  • Enforce authorized laws, rules, and regulations
  • Transport students to vocational sites, medical centers, and recreational activities
  • Inspect vehicles and report any mechanical issues
  • Patrol assigned areas and monitor for disturbances and safety hazards
  • Assist visitors, students, and staff
  • Maintain accountability logs for students
  • Conduct building security and safety checks
  • Investigate complaints and vehicular accidents
  • Issue visitor passes and temporary vehicle permits
  • Supervise students during activities

Required skills

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Three to six months of security experience preferred
  • Class B License with passenger/air brake endorsement preferred
  • Knowledge of crowd control techniques and law enforcement procedures
  • CPR/FA Certification required
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with issues faced by underprivileged youth
