Job Description

Overview

As a Security Officer at Wegmans in Ithaca, NY, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and security of customers and employees. This part-time position involves maintaining a visible presence in the store, addressing security concerns, and providing support during conflicts.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and/or customers as requested
  • Intervene with and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates for security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgement and ability to manage conflict under pressure
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze, and identify opportunities
