Job Description

Overview

Wegmans is looking for a part-time Security Officer in Ithaca, New York, to ensure the safety and security of customers and employees. The role involves maintaining a visible presence, conducting patrols, and addressing any safety concerns effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and customers as requested
  • Intervene with and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates for security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgement and ability to manage conflict
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful environments
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze, and identify opportunities
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field (preferred)
  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (preferred)
  • AED, APR and FAC certified (preferred)
