Job Description

Overview

As a Security Officer at Wegmans in Ithaca, NY, you will be responsible for maintaining safety and security within the store. This part-time role involves patrolling the premises, addressing safety concerns, and managing conflicts to ensure the well-being of customers and staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and customers as requested
  • Intervene with and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates for security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively under pressure
  • Effective communication skills in stressful environments
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze and identify opportunities
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field (preferred)
  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (preferred)
