Job Description

Overview

Wegmans is seeking a Security Officer in Ithaca, NY to maintain a safe environment for customers and employees. The role involves patrolling, monitoring for security concerns, and addressing conflicts as they arise, with a strong emphasis on customer service and safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey the outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and/or customers as requested
  • Intervene with and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates to ensure high levels of security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity on the property

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgement skills and ability to manage conflict
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze and identify opportunities
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field (preferred)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification (preferred)
  • AED, APR, and FAC certification (preferred)
