Overview

Wegmans is looking for a part-time Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for customers and employees in Ithaca, New York. The role involves ensuring security through visibility, foot and vehicle patrols, and addressing safety concerns as they arise.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and surveil outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and/or customers as requested
  • Intervene and diffuse customer conflicts effectively
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates for security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activities

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgement and ability to manage conflict under pressure
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze, and identify opportunities
