Job Description

Overview

Wegmans is seeking a part-time Security Officer in Syracuse, NY, to maintain safety for customers and employees. The role involves high visibility near store entrances and patrols, addressing all safety and security concerns.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey the outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and/or customers as requested
  • Intervene with and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows and gates to ensure high levels of security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity on the property

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgement skills
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively under pressure
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful environments
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze and identify opportunities
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field (preferred)
  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (preferred)
  • AED, APR and FAC certified (preferred)
