Overview

The SECURITY GUARD-PD position at The Community Action Organization of Western New York Inc involves safeguarding the organization's personnel and property in Buffalo, NY. This per diem role requires monitoring access to facilities and responding to emergencies while maintaining a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor access to the facility to ensure authorized entry
  • Patrol assigned areas within and outside the building
  • Examine the physical site and individual behaviors
  • Write accurate observation logs and incident reports
  • Manage the security camera system
  • Activate and deactivate alarm systems
  • Handle rule violations and provide guidance during emergencies
  • Assist with preparing identification badges
  • Participate in staff and supervisory meetings
  • Identify and report opportunities for improvement

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • New York State Security Guard registration
  • One year experience in security or law enforcement
  • Experience in a behavioral health setting
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and memos
  • Strong customer service and de-escalation skills
  • Physical fitness to respond swiftly in emergencies
  • Good vision and hearing for monitoring surveillance equipment
  • Ability to remain calm under stress
  • Spanish language skills desired
