Overview

The Sawmill Mechanic at West Fraser in Jacksonville, Florida is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the planer machine in a lumber processing environment. This role includes performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Key responsibilities

  • Feed the planer and ensure a constant lumber flow
  • Perform all minor repairs and routine maintenance
  • Change knives as needed
  • Maintain proper setup and operation of the planer
  • Assist maintenance on major repairs of machines
  • Conduct housekeeping tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Complete West Fraser Qualified Millwright training
