The SSHO will be responsible for overseeing workplace safety, implementing project safety requirements, conducting inspections, identifying hazards, and ensuring employees and subcontractors follow applicable safety procedures. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of safety and occupational health experienceExperience managing or implementing workplace safety programsKnowledge of OSHA safety standards and regulationsExperience conducting jobsite and workplace safety inspectionsExperience preparing and reviewing Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), or similar safety documentationAbility to identify unsafe conditions and recommend or implement corrective actionsExperience conducting employee safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetingsStrong documentation, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to work effectively with project management, supervisors, employees, subcontractors, and Government representatives Preferred Qualifications OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry certificationFamiliarity with USACE EM 385-1-1 safety requirementsPrevious experience on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Defense, or other federal government projectsExperience with facilities maintenance, janitorial operations, grounds maintenance, mowing, road maintenance, heavy equipment, or similar operationsFirst Aid/CPR certificationExperience preparing or administering an Accident Prevention Plan (APP) Responsibilities Implement and monitor the project safety programConduct routine safety inspections of work areas, vehicles, tools, and equipmentDevelop and maintain required safety documentationReview work activities for potential hazards before work beginsConduct safety meetings and employee trainingMonitor employee and subcontractor compliance with safety requirementsMaintain safety records, inspection reports, training records, and incident documentationInvestigate accidents, incidents, and near missesCoordinate corrective actions when safety deficiencies are identifiedEnsure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is usedSupport compliance with OSHA, USACE EM 385-1-1, and project-specific safety requirementsExercise authority to stop work when an unsafe or hazardous condition presents an immediate danger Work Environment This position may require work at multiple recreation and maintenance areas surrounding Lake Ouachita, Lake Greeson, and DeGray Lake. Work may involve outdoor environments, varying weather conditions, maintenance activities, roadway operations, mowing, janitorial operations, and equipment-related activities.
