Overview

The Safety Management System (SMS) Coordinator at Onboard Systems Inc in Anaheim, CA is responsible for maintaining the company's SMS program and ensuring compliance with aviation safety regulations. This role requires coordination of safety initiatives, data analysis, and reporting on safety performance to foster a proactive safety culture within the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the company's Safety Management System (SMS) compliance with FAA Part 5
  • Advise leadership on safety-related matters and support proactive safety culture development
  • Manage safety reporting process, including collection and analysis of safety data
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
  • Investigate incidents and prepare reports to prevent recurrence
  • Serve as liaison with aviation regulatory authorities and external safety organizations
  • Develop and maintain the Emergency Response Plan
  • Lead safety review meetings and support EHS initiatives
  • Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to integrate safety requirements

Required skills

  • Safety Management System (SMS) certification
  • Two years of experience in Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Quality, or Compliance
  • Internal Auditor certification or experience conducting audits
  • Knowledge of aviation safety principles and human factors
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations, OSHA requirements, and labor code compliance
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or quality management systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and reporting capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
