Overview

Aerodyne Industries is seeking a Safety Engineer to support Safety and Mission Assurance operations for the COMET contract at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and overseeing health, safety, and environmental initiatives across various programs and operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Support Safety and Mission Assurance operations for the COMET Contract
  • Provide integrated safety, health, and environmental oversight
  • Ensure compliance with federal, NASA, and Space Operations Directorate requirements
  • Conduct field surveillance and perform behavior-based safety observations
  • Execute safety and environmental requirements in the field
  • Assist with work authorization reviews and incident investigations
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and environmental stakeholders
  • Utilize systems such as SETS, Maximo, and CIPS to manage data
  • Maintain required certifications and complete on-the-job training

Required skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and ANSI standards
  • Experience in safety management and risk assessment
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance and health and safety protocols
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Capability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Experience in project management and data analysis
