Job Description Job Description The Safety Coordinator/Recruiter plays a crucial role in fostering a safe and healthy work environment by implementing comprehensive safety programs, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This position also supports employee safety training and takes charge of recruiting and onboarding new drivers, collaborating closely with management and various teams to minimize workplace risks and promote best practices in safety.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and monitor workplace safety policies and proceduresConduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments including Hours of ServiceInvestigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actionsEnsure compliance with applicable safety regulations.Coordinate and deliver safety training and orientation programs for employeesMaintain safety records, reports, permits, and documentationAssist in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activitiesIdentify workplace hazards and recommend improvements to reduce risksCollaborate with supervisors and department managers to address safety concernsTrack safety metrics and prepare reports for managementRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredKnowledge of FMCSA regulations and safety best practicesStrong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to conduct investigations and prepare detailed reportsProficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management softwarePreferred Qualifications2+ years of experience in transportation safety Company Description We boast a safe, family friendly working environment that specializes in hauling refrigerated/temperature controlled and dry-van freight.Founded in 1982, Nationwide Transportation is a for-hire, asset-based, refrigerated truckload motor carrier and logistics provider with headquarters in Omaha, NE. We specialize in hauling refrigerated and temperature controlled freight including dry-van freight throughout the Midwestern United States from the eastern slopes of the Colorado rocky mountains to the Ohio valley and south into Texas. The majority of freight is hauled for Fortune 500 customers in the food processing and manufacturing industries to transport raw goods and finished products for distribution to end users.We started out as a small operation with 5 trucks and just a few more trailers and have grown to a fleet of over 100 power units and 150 trailers. We are proud to continue hauling freight for some of the same customers who we first started hauling freight for.In July 1992, our current site was purchased and a new building combining the office and shop facilities was constructed. Nationwide employs over 100 dedicated and loyal employees based out of our Omaha headquarters.
