Overview

As a Safety Coordinator at Progressive Roofing in Columbus, OH, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety within roofing project environments. This position involves inspecting work sites, implementing safety protocols, and providing training to the project team, all with the aim of minimizing hazards and OSHA citations in a dynamic roofing industry context.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist and report to Senior Safety Manager/Director
  • Inspect project work environments for safety infractions
  • Provide training on safety protocols, including OSHA 10 hour courses
  • Monitor and enforce the project safety plan and applicable safety standards
  • Assist with safety pre-construction meetings
  • Participate in high-risk activity pre-planning
  • Prepare daily reports of safety observations and assign corrective actions
  • Assist in developing safety-related documents and orientation for job sites
  • Take digital pictures during inspections to support observations
  • Assist in environmental, health, and safety program success

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years in a commercial roofing environment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Considerable knowledge of OSHA standards related to construction and roofing
  • Good knowledge of environmental, health, and safety codes
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operational manuals
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to calculate and measure using various units
