Job Description

Overview

Wegmans is seeking a part-time Safety and Security Officer in Ithaca, New York, who will help maintain a safe environment for customers and employees. This role involves visible patrolling of the store and addressing safety concerns as they arise.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and customers as requested
  • Intervene and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates for security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively under pressure
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful environments
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze, and identify opportunities
