Job Description

Overview

Wegmans is seeking a Safety and Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for customers and employees in their Ithaca, NY location. This part-time position involves patrolling the store, monitoring security, and addressing safety concerns, all while providing excellent service.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and customers as requested
  • Intervene and diffuse customer conflicts effectively
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates to ensure security
  • Monitor the store environment to deter undesirable activity

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively under pressure
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze, and identify opportunities
