Job Description

Overview

Wegmans is seeking a Safety and Security Officer to ensure the safety of customers and employees at their Ithaca, NY location. This part-time role involves maintaining a visible presence, patrolling the premises, and addressing security concerns effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and or customers as requested
  • Intervene with and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates to ensure security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively under pressure
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze, and identify opportunities
