Overview

Wegmans is seeking a part-time Safety and Security Officer in Ithaca, New York, dedicated to maintaining a safe environment for customers and employees. The role involves visible patrols, conflict resolution, and monitoring security around store premises.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey parking areas
  • Escort employees and customers as requested
  • Intervene and diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates for security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage conflict under pressure
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate and analyze security opportunities
