Job Description

Overview

The H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a Road Mechanic to repair and maintain diesel and gasoline heavy equipment and trucks in the field. The ideal candidate should be energetic, self-motivated, and professional, with the ability to adhere to safety regulations and perform diagnostics to identify vehicle issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform all work adhering to OSHA, PA and DoT regulations, and H&K Safety policies
  • Drive to various locations in the Lehigh Valley area
  • Review job orders and observe equipment to determine malfunctions
  • Identify parts for repairs or replacements on equipment/trucks
  • Examine safety devices and make adjustments as needed
  • Dismantle equipment/trucks to inspect parts for defects
  • Replace or repair defective parts
  • Assemble and test equipment or test drive trucks to verify repairs
  • Overhaul gas or diesel engines
  • Conduct diagnostics using computers and related equipment
  • Perform front end inspections and alignments
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as GED)
  • Relevant experience and/or training
  • Clean driving record (CDL B preferred)
  • Customer service and teamwork skills
  • General computer knowledge including Caterpillar software (ET & SIS)
  • Ability to use mechanic's hand tools, torch, and welder
  • Physical ability to meet job demands, including lifting
  • Knowledge of safety regulations
