Overview

The Clinical Supervisor for Acute Orthopedics at CHRISTUS Health is responsible for leading daily clinical operations, ensuring quality nursing care, and managing a team of nursing associates in a fast-paced environment. This role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, supervising staff performance, and delivering exceptional patient care while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead daily clinical operations and shift leadership within the department.
  • Supervise nursing associates and provide patient care as needed.
  • Conduct patient experience rounds to assess satisfaction and perform service recovery.
  • Monitor and improve patient flow metrics in collaboration with the Patient Flow Supervisor.
  • Coach and ensure compliance of staff with policies and procedures, including infection control.
  • Facilitate unit-based multi-disciplinary rounds and promote teamwork.
  • Oversee medication administration and adherence to safe practices.
  • Respond to emergent events and coordinate emergency measures.
  • Assist with the development of performance expectations and conduct evaluations of staff.

Required skills

  • Current RN license in the State of New Mexico
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN preferred
  • 3 years relevant nursing experience preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (must be from American Heart Association)
  • Knowledge of nursing standards, regulations, and patient safety goals
  • Experience in patient care and service recovery
  • Ability to lead and coach nursing staff
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage complex clinical situations
