Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse II position in the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Critical Care Unit at UNC Health is focused on providing expert clinical care to critically ill patients with cardiovascular and thoracic conditions. This role requires coordination and delivery of patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, within the newly established North Carolina Surgical Hospital, recognized for its excellence in healthcare.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in educational programs to meet personal learning needs.
  • Evaluate and revise patient care plans in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex medical conditions.
  • Develop professional growth goals and participate in team collaboration.
  • Conduct patient assessments to determine care priorities.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update care plans.
  • Engage in research and stay informed on applicable practice studies.

Required skills

  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • One year of nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of critical care and cardiovascular nursing.
  • Ability to assess complex patient needs and plan accordingly.
