Overview

UNC Health is seeking Clinical Nurses for their Cardiology and Oncology Stepdown Unit (COSU), a 13-bed intermediate care unit focused on professional growth and compassionate care. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients while fostering teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration within a 24/7 operational environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and patients.
  • Assess patient outcomes and revise care plans as necessary.
  • Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex health issues.
  • Develop professional goals and participate in unit performance improvement activities.
  • Conduct patient assessments to determine care priorities.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to update and prepare care plans.
  • Research current practices and bring ideas for assessment.

Required skills

  • Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification
  • One year of nursing experience
  • Clinical nursing and patient care skills
