Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse II position in the Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) at UNC Health involves providing comprehensive nursing care for critically ill patients recovering from cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries. This role demands expertise in critical care nursing, patient assessment, and care coordination while being part of a collaborative healthcare team that prioritizes patient education and safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards
  • Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and patients
  • Evaluate patient care and adjust plans as necessary
  • Implement care for complex patient needs, including physical and psychosocial aspects
  • Lead initiatives for professional growth and unit goals
  • Assess patient needs and synthesize data for care planning
  • Collaborate with patients and families in care planning
  • Engage in research and apply relevant findings to practice

Required skills

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • 1+ years of nursing experience, ideally 2+ years in ICU
  • Critical care nursing skills
