Overview

Duke Health is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for its Float Pool in the Emergency Department. The role involves providing professional nursing care across various departments, ensuring excellent patient experiences while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. The position allows for flexible shifts and a dynamic learning environment, promoting career growth and development.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and provide professional nursing care based on medical and nursing plans
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, document, and evaluate patient care
  • Monitor and maintain the environment of care including equipment and resources
  • Delegate and supervise tasks for other licensed and unlicensed care providers
  • Educate patients and families in alignment with nursing care plans
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Act as a preceptor for new staff and learners
  • Adapt to various clinical situations within the float pool
  • Maintain competencies and identify personal learning needs

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher, or Associate's Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma
  • Current North Carolina RN licensure or compact RN licensure
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
  • Emergency Department clinical experience (12 months required, 2+ years preferred)
  • Compassionate care and teamwork
  • Adaptability and accountability
