Overview

The Respiratory Therapist Traveler position at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital involves providing respiratory care to patients through evaluation and administration of therapeutic services. Working in a part-time capacity, this role emphasizes effective patient assessment, care plan development, and communication with both patients and healthcare providers.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients for appropriate treatment and develop care plans
  • Administer prescribed respiratory therapies according to guidelines
  • Monitor and communicate patient condition and care plans
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and resources
  • Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment
  • Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations
  • Assist with departmental inventory and equipment processing

Required skills

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent experience
  • One year of experience in respiratory care
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification
  • Knowledge of respiratory care and emergency response procedures
