Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for their St. Bernard Parish Hospital. This role involves providing respiratory care treatment and diagnostic testing to patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric, while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Administer respiratory care treatments and oxygen services.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures including Arterial Blood Gases and EKG analysis.
  • Assist with the setup, monitoring, and weaning of Oxygen Therapy and artificial ventilation.
  • Educate patients and colleagues on procedures and treatment plans.
  • Document all clinical information regarding each patient.
  • Adapt care and communication to meet the needs of different patient populations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.

Required skills

  • Associate's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (must obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Windows-style applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
