Overview

The Respiratory Therapist II at Wellstar Health Systems is responsible for delivering patient care, particularly in critical care settings, while also performing medication administration and implementing respiratory care. This role emphasizes patient education, teamwork, and professional development within a supportive work environment focused on enhancing health and well-being.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide patient assessments for therapy and administer quality patient care
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to plan patient care
  • Administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, and oxygen therapy
  • Perform ventilator management, weaning, and airway management
  • Educate patients and mentor new employees and students
  • Promote high levels of patient safety and adherence to policies
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives
  • Document care accurately and promote evidence-based practice

Required skills

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications required upon hire
  • 0-2 years of clinical experience, preferably in critical care
  • Ability to communicate effectively and critical thinking skills
  • Team collaboration and relationship-building with healthcare professionals
  • Computer skills including familiarity with databases
