Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist - PRN in Picayune, Mississippi. This role involves providing respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, and diagnostic testing to both in-patients and out-patients across various age groups, while delivering high-quality care and support to patients and their families.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment and oxygen services
  • Perform diagnostic testing and ventilation support services
  • Monitor and wean patients off Oxygen Therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Draw, analyze, and report Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Maintain professional certifications and up-to-date knowledge of technical procedures
  • Attend staff meetings and perform related duties as required

Required skills

  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
  • Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Computer skills for data entry and retrieval
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
