Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care treatments, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support for diverse patient populations, including neonates to geriatrics. This role emphasizes patient monitoring, clinical assessment, and effective communication, while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatments and oxygen services to patients
  • Monitor and wean patients from Oxygen Therapy and Artificial ventilation
  • Draw, analyze, and report Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Perform diagnostic procedures and document clinical information about patients
  • Attend staff meetings and maintain professional certifications

Required skills

  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (if applicable)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Windows applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
