Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for their Gretna location, committed to providing quality care to patients of all ages. The role involves administering respiratory treatment, diagnostic testing, and supporting ventilation services, ensuring the well-being of both in-patients and out-patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment and diagnostic testing for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric
  • Set up, monitor, and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Draw, analyze, and report arterial blood gases and EKGs
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Comply with established policies and procedures during treatment
  • Maintain knowledge of current laws and accreditation standards relevant to respiratory therapy

Required skills

  • Current State of Louisiana License as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficiency in Windows-style applications and keyboard skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to document clinical information accurately
