Ochsner Health System is seeking a New Grad Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care treatment and support services for patients of all ages. The role involves monitoring oxygen therapy, conducting diagnostic testing, and delivering care in accordance with established policies and procedures. Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment and diagnostic testing
  • Monitor and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Draw and analyze arterial blood gases and EKGs
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures
  • Maintain professional certifications and knowledge of technical procedures
  • Document clinical information regarding each patient

Required skills

  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (for NICU therapists)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and data entry
  • Analytical skills
