Job Description

Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a New Grad Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care treatment and diagnostic testing to patients of all ages. The role involves administering oxygen therapy, managing artificial ventilation, and performing arterial blood gas analysis and EKGs in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, and ventilation support to patients.
  • Monitor and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation.
  • Draw, analyze, and report arterial blood gases and EKGs.
  • Educate patients and colleagues on procedures and treatment plans.
  • Document all clinical information regarding each patient.
  • Maintain professional certifications and current knowledge of technical procedures.

Required skills

  • Associate's Degree in a related field
  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Credentialed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Windows applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
