Overview

The Respiratory Therapist II at Wellstar Health Systems is responsible for administering respiratory care, medication, and education in critical care settings. This role involves delivering patient care while collaborating with healthcare teams, all while ensuring high standards of safety and quality in treatment procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Administers aerosolized medication and medical gas therapy
  • Performs patient assessments and collaborates on care planning
  • Manages ventilators and conducts airway management procedures
  • Educates patients and mentors new staff and students
  • Ensures accurate documentation and charting
  • Promotes patient safety and participates in performance improvement initiatives
  • Addresses specific biological, emotional, and psychosocial needs of patients

Required skills

  • NBRC-RRT Certification
  • BLS and ACLS Certifications
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to establish relationships with healthcare professionals
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems
  • Team collaboration and customer service skills
