Overview

The Respiratory Therapist II (RRT) at Wellstar Health Systems is responsible for providing advanced respiratory care in critical care settings. This role involves independent decision-making and patient education, ensuring quality patient care while adhering to established protocols. The therapist works as a part of a collaborative healthcare team and is involved in mentoring new employees and students.

Key responsibilities

  • Administers medication and respiratory care based on evaluation and treatment processes
  • Delivers patient care in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management
  • Coordinates patient education for patients and their families
  • Participates in staff development and mentoring programs
  • Performs patient assessments and collaborates with healthcare team members
  • Administers aerosolized medication and manages airway care
  • Educates patients and mentors peers, students, and new employees
  • Promotes safe and quality patient care and adheres to safety standards
  • Maintains accurate electronic documentation and orders

Required skills

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT)
  • Respiratory Care Professional (RCP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Critical thinking and communication skills
  • Ability to establish working relationships with healthcare professionals
  • Computer skills, including familiarity with databases
  • Clinical experience in critical care
