Overview

The Respiratory Therapist II at Wellstar Health Systems is a critical care role focused on medication administration and respiratory care implementation. This position involves significant decision-making in complex patient situations, providing education to patients and their families, and contributing to the development of staff and new employees.

Key responsibilities

  • Administers quality patient care in critical care settings
  • Performs patient assessments and collaborates with healthcare team members
  • Verifies orders and administers aerosolized medication and therapies
  • Conducts ventilator management and airway management procedures
  • Educates patients and mentors new employees and peers
  • Promotes a supportive environment for students and staff
  • Engages in performance improvement initiatives to enhance care quality
  • Complies with all organizational policies and standards

Required skills

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification (NBRC-RRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • 0-2 years clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to establish working relationships with healthcare professionals
  • Familiarity with healthcare databases
