Overview

The Respiratory Therapist II role at UNC Health involves delivering advanced respiratory care to patients under the direction of department management. Responsibilities include airway management, mechanical ventilator management, and various respiratory procedures. The position requires a two or three-year commitment with potential bonuses and relocation assistance.

Key responsibilities

  • Administers standard Respiratory Care procedures including aerosol medication delivery and oxygen therapy.
  • Handles airway management and performs tracheostomy care, intubations, and extubations.
  • May be required to be on-call during days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Manages ventilator care and weaning techniques for patients on mechanical ventilation.
  • Maintains and improves job knowledge and functions independently with minimal supervision.

Required skills

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in North Carolina
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
  • Two years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Ability to analyze and interpret clinical information
  • Strong communication skills
  • Mathematical skills for practical applications
