Job Description

Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist for night shifts in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. The role involves providing respiratory care treatment to patients of all ages, performing diagnostic testing, and delivering patient-centered care in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment and oxygen services to in-patients and out-patients
  • Set up, monitor, and wean patients off Oxygen Therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Draw, analyze, and report Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs
  • Deliver intermittent therapy and assist with changing of artificial airways
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Perform diagnostic procedures and document all clinical information regarding patients
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures while providing patient care

Required skills

  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
  • Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and relevant software
