Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care treatment and support services to both in-patients and out-patients across various age groups, from neonatal to geriatric. The role includes monitoring oxygen therapy, performing diagnostic testing, and assisting with patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment and oxygen services
  • Perform diagnostic testing and analyze Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs
  • Monitor and manage oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Maintain professional certifications and stay updated on technical procedures
  • Document clinical information regarding each patient
  • Comply with all relevant laws and standards

Required skills

  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (if applicable)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (within 90 days of hire)
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
