Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist for a PRN position at OAGH in Church Point, Louisiana. The role involves providing respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to patients of all ages. Responsibilities include monitoring and weaning oxygen therapy, analyzing arterial blood gases, assisting with artificial airways, and delivering intermittent therapy as per physician orders.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment and oxygen services to in-patients and out-patients
  • Monitor and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Draw, analyze, and report arterial blood gases and EKGs
  • Assist with changing of artificial airways
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Perform diagnostic procedures and maintain accurate clinical documentation
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures in all practices
  • Participate in staff meetings and maintain professional certifications
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and standards

Required skills

  • Associate's Degree in a relevant field
  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
  • Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
  • Knowledge of respiratory care procedures and equipment
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with computer applications and data entry
