Job Description

Overview

The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles provides evaluation and care for respiratory therapy patients, administering prescribed therapeutic services. This role involves working full-time on a day shift with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week, including rotating weekends and holiday coverage.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients for appropriate types and frequency of respiratory treatment
  • Develop patient care plans based on diagnosis
  • Administer respiratory care services according to physician's orders and procedures
  • Monitor and communicate patient conditions
  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and community support
  • Assist with equipment care, calibration, and maintenance
  • Participate in inventory management of supplies and equipment
  • Respond to medical emergencies and rapid responses
  • Perform other assigned duties

Required skills

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner certification in Missouri
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry objects
