Job Description

Overview

The Respiratory Care Practitioner (CRT) at SSM Health provides evaluation and care for respiratory therapy patients, administering prescribed therapeutic services based on physician orders. This role requires ongoing monitoring and communication of patient conditions while educating patients and families about their health and available support resources.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patient for appropriate treatment types and develop care plans
  • Provide respiratory care services according to physician's orders and guidelines
  • Monitor and implement patient care plans and equipment
  • Evaluate respiratory practices and treatment outcomes
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of respiratory equipment
  • Participate in departmental inventory management
  • Respond to medical emergencies and rapid responses
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP)
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
  • State licensure for Respiratory Care Practitioner as required by location
  • Patient assessment and care
