Job Description

Overview

SSM Health is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to work on a PRN basis at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. The role involves evaluating and caring for respiratory therapy patients, administering prescribed treatments, and educating patients and their families about their health conditions.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients for appropriate treatment types and develop care plans based on diagnoses
  • Provide respiratory care services according to physician's orders and departmental policies
  • Monitor and communicate patient conditions and treatment outcomes
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and community support programs
  • Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment and manage departmental inventory
  • Respond to medical emergencies and participate in rapid response situations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent education and experience
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure in Missouri
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification
  • Knowledge of respiratory therapy practices and patient care techniques
